CAD Newswire - UK Version

Manager's Note

Dear Customer

Once again "Thank You" to everyone for keeping Fern at the top of the COADE worldwide sales ladder.  Fern sales have continued to strengthen, even against the backdrop of uncertainty regarding the current economic climate.

Our web site has been updated with the 2010 training schedule, please review this to determine your needs for the New Year.

Best wishes

Marijana Bicanic
Sales Manager Benelux

Visit to Germany

Richard Ay, Vice President Software Development of COADE, along with Fern’s UK and German staff, visited BASF, ESN and Linde. Discussions covered new developments and also specific localisation requirements that will enhance COADE’s products for use in Germany.

All parties considered the visit successful and the product enhancements are already with the programming teams.  COADE will have as much as possible out in the next releases.

Thank you to everyone for a mutually beneficial visit.

Should any customer feel that any of COADE’s software would benefit from new feature, please suggest it; new ideas are to everyone’s benefit.

Benefits of Integration

In last month's Newswire, we mentioned the 20 minute presentation that was shown to users at the September COADE User Conference.   This has become known as the '20 minute challenge', where 3 presenters use COADE’s collaborative tools to complete a project in 20 minutes (given a head start in some areas!).

It shows how CADWorx Plant integrates with the CAESAR II, PV-Elite and PV Fabricator in the utilisation of common data.

This 20 minute challenge is now available to watch on video: COADE 20 minute challenge

You can see below how Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo adopted this strategy and benefited.

Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo

Learn how CADWorx Plant Professional and CAESAR II helped IMP successfully complete one of Mexico's largest and most challenging refurbishment projects.

In the past, IMP used a 3D modelling package that was expensive and did not allow for the transfer of information between the 3D CAD model and pipe stress analysis.

Read about their very successful product integration here.

CodeCalc

A quick reminder that from 1st January 2010 CodeCalc is being discontinued as a separate product.

In our September Newswire we told you that to receive a free upgrade to PV Elite, CodeCalc customers must be current with their UMS contract as of 1st January 2010.

For more details please contact Marijana Bicanic or see here.

On 8th December 2009 COADE will be conducting a special webinar on 'PV Elite for CodeCalc Users'.

We recommend that all existing CodeCalc users attend this Webinar.

Hints & Tips

CAESAR II, PV Elite System Folders

Several users have contacted Fern asking where the 'system' folder is located after a CAESAR II or PV-Elite installation.

Due to Microsoft requirements the system folders for the latest software are now installed within Documents and Settings on the C: drive.  The full path is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\COADE, Inc.  The Example folder is also to be found in this location.

Creating a Heat Exchanger in PV Elite

PV-Elite users have contacted Fern asking for a process for the creation of Heat Exchangers within the program.

Chapter 9 of the PV Elite Manual (PVElite.pdf) provides comprehensive information about the creation of Heat Exchangers.

Examples of Exchangers, built to ASME, PD 5500 and TEMA requirements, can also be found in the Examples folder of the PV Elite installation ( C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\COADE, Inc\PVElite\2009\example).

Did you know?

CAESAR II

Addresses the Nuclear Design Codes NC 3600 and ND 3600 for the analysis of piping in Nuclear installations

AFT Arrow

Has a Goal Seek and Control (GSC) module for the parametric modelling and enhancement of Arrow's ability to simulate system control functions.  An example might be setting a goal for the flow rate in an assigned pressure junction with a defined variable as the set point for a control valve.

Arrow will use the GSC module to automatically find the required valve set point to meet the flow rate goal.
