AFT Arrow is the preferred fluid flow analysis and pipe flow calculation software for compressible fluid flow.

More than just pressure drop calculation software, AFT Arrow is ideally qualified for modelling real compressible fluid flow systems including steam flow calculations, compressed air flow calculations, chemical and petrochemical process gas flow calculations and natural gas transport.

AFT Impulse 4.0 - Waterhammer Modelling


AFT Impulse, pipe flow calculation software, addresses the potentially catastrophic effects of waterhammer and other undesirable transients in piping systems.

A Tool for Specialists and Non-specialists

AFT Impulse provides waterhammer specialists with a no compromise tool capable of modelling a broad range of waterhammer events, including transient cavitation and various surge suppression devices. AFT Impulse provides a built-in library of fluids and fittings, variable model configurations, pump and control valve modelling. The Scenario Manger raises the what-if potential of waterhammer analysis to a new level.

The traditional Method of Characteristics are employed by AFT Impulse to solve the transient mass and momentum equations of waterhammer pipe flow calculations. Modelling tools for a wide range of system components and transient surge devices are included. Time varying hydraulic forces can be calculated, graphed and exported for use in pipe stress analysis tools, such as CAESAR II.

This new technology intelligently sizes incompressible flow piping and ducting systems resulting in significant cost savings.

Cost Reduction Through Intelligent System Sizing

Traditional engineering methods are limited in their ability to select pipes, ducts and equipment sizes on a system basis. Even simple systems will have billions of potential size combinations to consider for their various components, far too many to evaluate by traditional methods.
With AFT Mercury, design requirements and sizing criteria are specified, which may be to minimise initial or life cycle cost, or parameters such as pipe weight, volume or surface area. AFT Mercury then performs a comprehensive analysis of the complex interaction among the various components to intelligently determine their optimal sizes.
Engineering optimizations will determine optimal pipe sizes to minimize one of the following as selected by the user:

  • Pipe weight
  • Pipe plus fluid weight
  • Pipe volume

Obtaining accurate physical properties for steam and water is critical in many engineering applications. AFT Software's SteamCalc™ provides easy access to accurate steam and water properties through a standalone application and an Excel add-in.

AFT SteamCalc Viewer™

A standalone application which will calculate properties for a single point, two points and over a range. Output is user configurable.

AFT SteamCalc Add-in™ for Excel

Steam/water property functions can be accessed directly from within your spreadsheet. AFT SteamCalc functions may be also accessed from the AFT SteamCalc menu that appears on Excel's menu bar.
